Providing compassionate endings at home to pets in the North Shore community

Our Veterinarian

Dr. Katie Larson earned her bachelors in biology at College of the Holy Cross in 2011 and her doctor of veterinary medicine from the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. She completed a rotating internship in equine medicine and surgery at Littleton Equine Medical Center in Colorado, where she practiced before returning home.  In 2021 Dr. Larson returned to New England where she worked at an ambulatory practice on the Seacoast for three years.

Dr. Larson lives in West Newbury MA with her one-eyed dog Lulu and Fiancé. She currently serves as president of the New Hampshire Veterinary Medical Association, and she serves on the planning committee for the New England Veterinary Medical Association.  In August 2024 Dr. Larson established Saltwater Equine Emergency Services based in West Newbury, Massachusetts.

Throughout her career as a veterinarian, Dr. Larson has been deeply committed to compassionate end-of-life care. As a mobile practitioner, she has frequently been called upon to perform in-home euthanasias for small animals, allowing her to maintain and refine her skills in this delicate area. In the summer of 2025, she completed the CAETA Peaceful Euthanasia Certification Program. Building on this experience, Dr. Larson founded Coastal Kindness in September 2025, a service dedicated to providing in-home euthanasia for pets in the North Shore, MA area.
